Programs to Nursing Homes, etc. |
Most of us do what we call “fun” programs for our area nursing
homes. Sometimes we forget the main purpose of these programs is to market our
services. It’s easy to get caught up in doing the fun stuff and forget to do the
important job of informing the participants of our services.
Don’t forget to prepare the marketing aspect of your program. Have flyers on
hand, bring posters for them to display, and talk directly with your activity
personnel.
Most nursing homes and senior apartments have a resident packet that they give
out to new residents. Ask them to include outreach flyers and talking book
flyers in their packets.
Another free marketing aspect, we have been privy to several times, is being
featured in the nursing home’s promotional materials. Several of our nursing
homes have feature ads in the newspaper. They usually include a picture of one
of my programs and add library service as one of the draws to their nursing
home.
See the Media section for examples of these types of
ads.
