Staff Training |
Make use of your frontline staff. These are the people that many
of our potential patrons are going to ask questions. We have to make sure that
every staff members knows how to answer questions concerning outreach. If you
have an annual staff development day, this is the perfect place to inform the
rest of the staff what outreach is doing. Many times you’ll find that your
frontline staff is not familiar with outreach and they will have plenty of
questions for you to answer. Make handouts that can be kept at the circ desk, so
if a question comes up they can refer to the handout.
Create a web page and add it to the staff website. Many libraries
have an intranet for staff; this is the perfect location for you to add
information about outreach. It can be updated regularly and the staff has easy
access to your information.
