The following example is relevant to the duties of a Systems Librarian in that Systems Librarians maintain the institution's library web page content based upon the needs of the institution. The purpose of this website was to create a web presence for Mid-East Career and Technology Center's Media Center. The site was created as a Capstone project requirement for Franklin University. The site highlights web development skills utilized to create a Media Center website that meets the needs of both students and staff. The site features collection updates, new services, partnerships, tutorials, student book reviews, useful websites, and equipment information. This project was originally created December 2006 and is updated regularly. |

Professional Librarians need to be able to develop proposals that outline new projects. Proposals need to be well thought out in terms of costs, inputs, outputs and detailed measurement outcomes. The purpose of this project was to develop a well rounded project proposal for a public library that could be presented to the Library Director. Today's Academic Librarians are often responsible for creating quality technology training for both staff and students. This project was created as a tutorial for the staff of Mid-East Career and Technology Centers. Tutorials were created using Camtasia Studio and PowerPoint to accommodate different learning preferences. The tutorials will be part of the professional development plan developed to integrate Online Classrooms. As part of the Online Classroom integration plan, staff will be required to create a staff profile and add their syllabus to their classes. The training videos are linked from the school's Media Center Website so that they are accessible to staff. February 2008 |
